MEPs back co-operation to combat crime and terrorism

NEW provisions for closer co-operation between EU countries in the fight against terrorism and cross-border crime were today welcomed by Wales Euro-MPs Glenys Kinnock and Eluned Morgan. The plans will improve the exchange of DNA data, fingerprints and other information between police forces in EU countries.

MEPs boycott vote on Zimbabwe

THE European Parliament Socialist Group today refused to take part in a vote on Zimbabwe, having earlier refused to sign a motion on the crisis in the country. The Group said the resolution and debate would not gain anything in terms of supporting the democratic process in the country.

MEPs tackle organ donor shortage

22nd April 2008

PLANS to tackle the shortage of organ donors by introducing an EU-wide donor card were today backed by Wales Euro-MPs Glenys Kinnock and Eluned Morgan. The Labour MEPs are supporting a European Parliament report urging greater co-operation between EU countries to address the shortage of organ donors and crackdown on the illegal trade in the trafficking of organs.

Euro-MP joins fight to save St Donats Arts Centre

WALES Euro-MP Glenys Kinnock has joined calls for the Arts Council Wales (ACW) to save St Donats Arts Centre from closure. The Labour MEP has written to ACW urging it to re-consider its decision to cut funding for the Centre.

ANGLESEY-born Euro-MP Glenys Kinnock has joined calls for Walkers Crisps to put the island firmly on their promotional map of the UK. The Walkers Brit Tours promotion has removed Anglesey from its map of the UK created as part of a campaign to get people to enjoy Britain's tourist attractions.

WALES Euro-MPs Glenys Kinnock and Eluned Morgan today joined their European Parliament colleagues in calling for China to end the brutal repression of Tibetan demonstrators. The Labour MEPs voted for a resolution condemning human rights abuses in Tibet.

EURO cash is to be invested in ensuring older people in Wales can lead independent and active lives while living in their own homes. Labour Euro-MP Glenys Kinnock today joined her European Parliament colleagues in voting to make €150 million available to research ways to improve independent living for older people.

MEP urges China to live up to Olympic spirit

EURO-MP Glenys Kinnock will today join activists including Nobel Peace Laureate Jody Williams in calling for China to live up to the Olympic spirit and help end the violence in Darfur.
